CAN I SELL WITHOUT A REAL ESTATE AGENT?

Most people believe the only way to sell a house is with an agent, after all repairs are fixed and the house is cleaned. But actually, nothing could be further from the truth. Here’s what I mean…

People believe this because: personally, we would never buy a filthy house, in disrepair, full of someone else’s junk!

Also, people believe they have to use a real estate agent, because all of their friends and family have done it that way.

And finally, people believe all real estate agents are good professionals, and we have to follow all of their advice about cleaning, repairs, staging, yardwork, etc….

Then I realized there are some great real estate agents out there. But some are not so great; worse, their advice wasn’t helpful, at all.

Now I understand that there are people who like to buy fixer uppers. They don’t care if a property needs to have garbage removed, or repairs done, or cleaning from top to bottom/inside and out. These people are professional homebuyers.

What this means for home sellers:

• As long as lawyers are involved for both the buyer and the seller, I now know that properties can be sold without an agent, without repairs, and without any cleaning whatsoever.

The big takeaway for all of us here is every house has someone who will buy it, in whatever state it’s in: safely, legally and quickly!  Home sellers in Alberta have a choice about using real estate agents, or sell directly to a private home buyer.
